Creating Custom Stoles

Posted on May 6, 2012 at 12:30 AM

It is such a joy for me to bring someone's vision of the perfect custom stole to life!  Often, the customer begins with a rough idea of what he or she has in mind.  One example is the recent "Southwestern Stole" I created for a customer.

When she said she was thinking of a sunset, cactus, and chili pepper to commemorate a pastor's time in the Southwest, I began to think of designs which would fit that bill.  I first went to BFC Creations - I remembered a "window" design with a sunset and cactus - two panels from this window formed the primary designs for this stole.

For crosses and a chili pepper, I went to my other favorite designer, Sonia Showalter, where the cross of nails and large chili pepper were the perfect choices.  The last two designs came from Embroidery Library (Stained Glass Dove) and Embroidery.com (Bible with lily).

Combined together, these designs became a wonderful one-of-a-kind stole that perfectly fit the vision of the customer (see Amy's reviews - thanks Amy!)

This process often takes considerable time, and emailing back and forth to make sure my vision meshes with the customer's vision.  When it clicks, it's a wonderful feeling!  I feel that the process is Spirit-led, and there is blessing for me in the creation, and also for the one wearing it.

Consider creating your dream stole along with me!

Blessings, Deborah
